Who is eligible for Medicare Part C?

Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, is open to anyone who has enrolled in Original Medicare (Parts A and B). In order to purchase a Medicare Advantage Plan, you must also live within the plan’s service area. Thus, Medicare Part C coverage will not be available everywhere, and you may have to move if you wish to enroll. Those with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) will be ineligible for most kinds of Medicare Advantage Plan, though they may be able to get a Special Needs Plan. Last but not least, you cannot be enrolled in Medicare Part C and Medicare Supplement Insurance (also known as Medigap) at the same time. You will need to drop the Medigap policy before applying for a Medicare Advantage Plan.
