Is group insurance better than individual insurance?

If an employer wants to provide his employees with health insurance, it is always better to go for group insurance. This is because in this way, none of the employees may be refused cover by the company. For example, an employee with a known health condition may find it difficult to secure cover under an individual plan. But he will be provided cover under a group insurance plan. Some companies do impose a waiting period before the cover kicks in. Some may also provide certain limitations on pre existing conditions. But in general, the employees receive coverage as soon as they enroll for a plan. Since the processing costs are cut down by the economies of scale, group plans are in general cheaper than individual plans. In addition, group plans are more liberal and provide more coverage than individual plans.
