Will my VA disability pension benefits impact my eligibility for subsidies?
No. One’s eligibility for premium subsidies (also known as premium tax credits) is based on household income. VA disability pension benefits are typically not subject to federal income tax, and as such, are not considered income and will not be used in determining your eligibility. Factors that can influence your eligibility for premium subsidies include social security benefits, tax-exempt interest, and your adjusted gross income. The total amount used in determining subsidy eligibility is known as your modified adjusted gross income, or MAGI.
