When used in White Light mode, the TRIMARA's Identafi will enable the dentist to examine the entire oral cavity. This handheld detection device, offered by Mariana Conant's Dental Office, first examines the inner contour of the teeth and upper portions of the mouth, followed by lower portion and floor of the mouth. Lastly it examines the tongue, hard palate and soft palate and then the pharynx. After the While Light mode, the device gets switched to Violet Fluorescent Light mode by which abnormal tissue growths are identified. If any lesions are found, in Amber Reflectance Light mode, the vessels surrounding the lesions get examined.

The oral cancer is now occurring among nonsmokers at an alarmingly high rate, mainly due to the exposure HP-16 or human papilloma virus. HPV is one the most common viruses and more than 100 different types of HPVs are found. It is one of the major risk factors for oral cancer and at the same time for cervical cancer. As a result of not being detected in an early stage, almost half of the persons diagnosed with it, die from this cancer.
