PEIA Board Offers No Increase in Premiums
The Public Employees Insurance Agency Finance Board wishes to hold the line on premiums paid by state workers.
A plan tentatively approved, keeps health insurance premiums for active and retired state workers in 2008 at the present level. If the plan is adopted, it would be the second immediate year with no premium increase.
Nevertheless, that is not the case for employees of counties, cities and other government agencies covered by the PEIA Local Fund. Their premiums would go up by 10 percent.
Public hearings on the proposed plan will be held for two weeks, starting in Charleston on Nov. 6. A final vote on the proposal will be held in December.
