Colorado has one of the highest percentages of uninsured children and teens, ranking 44th in the nation for insured children and 41st for adolescents. Above 14 percent of Colorado youth, or 120,000 kids, did not have public or private health insurance in 2006.
Almost 31 percent of Colorado teens reported binge drinking, a higher number than in 40 other states.
The report card gave a C for the health of pregnant mothers, infants and young children, and a B- for teens.
The bright spot: Colorado has one of the lowest obesity rates for children, placing it third in the nation with about 10 percent being overweight.
