Mountain State Blue Cross
Founded in 1932, Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield is West
Virginiaâ€™s largest health insurance carrier incorporating
all of West Virginia, and also Washington County of Ohio. The company
has four regional offices located in Parkersburg, Charleston, Wheeling
and Weirton, West Virginia. At present, more than 400,000 people
are covered under a Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield health
plan. It is the only health insurance company operating under the
famous Blue Cross and Blue Shield logos in West Virginia.
An independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association,
it employs over 800 people and maintains a comprehensive network
of providers. It also offers a choice of many hospitals, physicians
and medical professionals to both its traditional and managed care

Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield of West Virginia offers individuals,
families, big and small companies various types of health plans.
Its products include New Blue, a traditional indemnity product;
Super Blue Plus, a Preferred Provider plan and Super Blue Select,
a Point of Service plan. Let us have a look at some of its products.
SuperBlueÂ® Plus, a preferred provider organization (PPO),
is a network of preferred providers spread over the United States
contracted by Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield. PPO providers
agree to special pricing and utilization review arrangements to
keep the cost of care within reasonable limits. In the case of individuals,
SuperBlueÂ® Plus provides high quality, cost-effective
health coverage with flexibility. Covered services received from
non-network Providers are reimbursed at a lower level of benefit
(60% of the companyâ€™s allowance). SuperBlueÂ®
Plus allows individuals to select from five deductible options,
and to receive treatment from any doctor or hospital he or she you
chooses. The deductible options are $250, $500, $1000, $2500 and
$5000. This plan offers a full range of benefits, including physician
services, preventive and well child care services, prescription
drug card, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, skilled nursing
care, home health care and private duty nursing care.
Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield of West Virginia offers you
a choice of several Medicare Supplement plans - Plans A, C, F, and
I. These Medifil supplemental policies are aimed at filling in the
gaps of your Medicare coverage. In order to be eligible to participate
in the Medifil Plans, you must fulfill the following requirements:
you must be age 65 or older; you must be eligible for and enrolled
in both Part A and Part B of Medicare; and you must be (a) self-employed;
(b) unemployed; (c) or employed by a company that does not provide
any type of health care coverage.
It has recently introduced its new vision coverage, FEP BlueVisionSM
so that you get the great value you want and the superior care you
